Australian Kangaroo Meat Now Available in Our Freezer

🦘 NEW FREEZER FIND!! 🦘 Straight from Australia — now in the freezer at McClendon’s! • Ground Kangaroo• Boneless Kangaroo Leg Kangaroo has been eaten in Australia for thousands of years. Aboriginal Australians traditionally hunted kangaroo as a major food source, using nearly every part of the animal for food, clothing, and tools. Later, early European settlers also relied on kangaroo meat on the Australian frontier before cattle became widespread. Today it’s still popular as a lean, high-protein wild game meat with a rich flavor similar to very lean beef or venison. Unfortunately, koala bears can’t be legally sourced… and apparently everything else in Australia is trying to kill you. 🇦🇺☠️ Cooking tip: kangaroo is extremely lean, so medium-rare is usually best. Limited availability — once it’s gone, it’s gone!

🐊 FREEZER FIND 🐊 “What’s next… alligator?” …Funny you should ask. We’ve actually got it.At McClendon’s Old Fashioned Meats. Not weird. Not wild. Just a lean, mild meat that eats easy — somewhere between chicken and pork. But this isn’t new. Alligator’s been on the menu for generations down south — especially in Louisiana, where Cajun cooking turned it into a staple. Fried gator bites, sausage, gumbo… it all started as practical, use-what-you’ve-got cooking and stuck around because it’s actually good. Who’s ready for another edition of FREEZER FINDS?!? 🧊🔥🐪 This week we’re cracking open the freezer to spotlight something you don’t see every day: Ground Camel. What is it like? Camel is generally mild, clean, and on the lean side—closer to beef than people expect, with a subtle “earthy” note that takes seasoning really well. Best ways to use it Because it’s often lean, camel shines in recipes where you can build juiciness and flavor: • Kofta / kebab meatballs: cumin, coriander, garlic, onion, paprika — absolute home run. • Smash burgers: add a little fat (beef tallow or bacon trim) and cook hot and fast. • Taco meat: brown it hard, then hit it with chili + lime + a pinch of warm spice (like cinnamon). • Chili or meat sauce: big flavor without a greasy pot.
